Support Groups

People who have attempted suicide or lost a loved one to suicide often find comfort and healing in our specialized support groups, facilitated by a licensed clinician and a peer.

We Offer

Survivors of Suicide Attempts Support Group

This innovative support group offers a safe, nonjudgmental place for survivors to talk about what led them to attempt suicide and the impact on their lives. Survivors learn coping skills to more effectively manage suicidal thoughts, and create safety plans to keep themselves safe during a crisis to help reduce triggers. The group is facilitated by a clinician and a peer (survivor of a suicide attempt).

Survivors After Suicide Support Group

Provides healing and hope to adults who have lost someone to suicide, addressing the special needs of people struggling with complex grief. The group provides activities and sharing opportunities to help survivors cope with their loss in a positive and productive way. Co-facilitated by a clinician and a peer who has also lost a loved one to suicide.

Teen Survivors After Suicide Support Group

Adapted from our adult Survivors After Suicide group, teens who have lost someone to suicide receive emotional and therapeutic support from clinicians and other teens, and learn new and creative coping skills to help them deal with their loss in a healing, supportive environment.

“Suicide is a forbidden subject, but at Didi Hirsch, I found a place where I could talk about what I was going through with people who knew firsthand what I was saying. And that made a real difference.”
